Sam Koontz began building instruments in 1959, and had made over 200 guitars until his passing in the early '80s. His guitars all featured his unmistakable craftsmanship and sense of design. He opened his own shop in Linden, N.J. ca 1970; previous to that he was a shop foreman for the Framus guitars that were imported from Germany, and he later designed guitars for Framus. It's said that he also did design work for Martin Co. during this time. Most significantly Sam took on the design and development of the Standel and Harptone guitar lines, including the manufacturing procedures; these guitars exhibit classic Koontz motifs. A real beauty, vgc++, hsc....$3900
